Graph by Roy L Hales.<\/p><\/div><\/figure>\n<h2>Increase of active cases over fice days<\/h2>\n<p>Over the course of the last\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/cortescurrents.ca\/8-active-cases-in-north-vancouver-island\/\">five days, the number of active cases on Vancouver Island has increased from 39<\/a>\u00a0to 67.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/experience.arcgis.com\/experience\/a6f23959a8b14bfa989e3cda29297ded\">Two people were admitted to Intensive Care Units<\/a>, which hasn\u2019t happened for months.<\/p>\n<p>While a series of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cheknews.ca\/nanaimo-sees-covid-19-exposure-alerts-at-schools-soccer-field-717913\/\">media reports are coming out of two schools and the hospital in Nanaimo<\/a>, the number of active cases in North Vancouver Island quietly increased from <a href=\"https:\/\/cortescurrents.ca\/8-active-cases-in-north-vancouver-island\/\">eight, on Monday<\/a>, to 15 by Friday. Photo courtesy of the BC government.<\/p><\/div>\n<h2 class=\"aligncenter size-large\">Island Health Press releases<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.islandhealth.ca\/news\/news-releases\/possible-covid-19-exposure-browns-socialhouse-courtenay\">Yesterday, Island Health issued a press release<\/a> stating they had been contacting patrons of Browns Socialhouse, in Courtenay, about a possible exposure to COVID-19 on Nov. 3 and 5.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cContact tracing has been completed and anyone identified as a close contact has been instructed to self-isolate.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201c \u2026 If you have not been contacted by public health, then please be assured you did not have a high-risk exposure related to this case. No ongoing COVID-19 risk from this exposure has been identified.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.islandhealth.ca\/news\/news-releases\/medical-health-officer-order-ensures-appropriate-contact-tracing-measures-campgrounds-and-rv-parks\">Island Health\u2019s Chief Medical Health Officer, Dr. Richard Stanwick, has also issued<\/a> a Public Health Order stating,\u00a0 \u201cEffective November 13, all owners and operators of campgrounds and RV parks must collect information from each patron that would enable contact tracing, including names and phone numbers. Photo courtesy of the BC Government.<\/p><\/div>\n<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<h2>North Vancouver Island\u2019s four Health areas:<\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li>Comox Valley<\/li>\n<li>Campbell River, which includes Cortes, Quadra and the other Discovery Islands.<\/li>\n<li>Vancouver Island North<\/li>\n<li>and Vancouver island West.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The most recent statistical breakdown of cases within those areas shows the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/cortescurrents.ca\/covid-19-cases-6-in-campbell-river-during-october\/\">cumulative total of cases up until the end of October<\/a>. Comparing those numbers with those of the previous monthly summary, there were eight new cases in the Comox Valley, six in Campbell River and one in Vancouver Island North during October.
