{"id":201767,"date":"2023-12-11T16:33:14","date_gmt":"2023-12-11T21:33:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/canada-info.ca\/?p=201767"},"modified":"2023-12-11T16:33:14","modified_gmt":"2023-12-11T21:33:14","slug":"food-banks-bc-distributes-over-64000-to-kootenay-organizations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/canada-info.ca\/en\/food-banks-bc-distributes-over-64000-to-kootenay-organizations\/","title":{"rendered":"Food Banks BC distributes over $64,000 to Kootenay organizations"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The BC government announced that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foodbanksbc.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Food Banks BC<\/a> has distributed funding to food banks across BC, including several in the Kootenays, on Dec. 5.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cIt\u2019s important that people in our region know they have somewhere they can turn if they run into challenging times, Brittny Anderson, MLA for Nelson-Creston, said in a press release. \"Our local food banks do great work, but they can\u2019t do it all alone, and this investment will help their efforts go further.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In the Kootenays, the following organizations received funding:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Creston Valley Gleaners Society - $15,000<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Community Harvest Food Bank (Castlegar) - $9,000<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">W.E. Graham Community Service Society (Slocan) - $7,500<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Salvation Army Nelson Community Church - $6,000<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Salvation Army Trail Community Ministries - $6,000<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">NKLCSS Kaslo Food Hub - $6,000<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Salmo Community Services - $5,000<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Arrow &amp; Slocan Lakes Community Services (Nakusp) - $5,000<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">New Denver Food Bank - $5,000<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>CJLY spoke with Allison Trim from the <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">W.E.
