{"id":193483,"date":"2023-11-09T12:28:34","date_gmt":"2023-11-09T17:28:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/canada-info.ca\/?p=193483"},"modified":"2023-11-09T12:28:34","modified_gmt":"2023-11-09T17:28:34","slug":"students-supporters-rally-at-grand-parade-for-free-post-secondary-education","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/canada-info.ca\/en\/students-supporters-rally-at-grand-parade-for-free-post-secondary-education\/","title":{"rendered":"Students, supporters rally at Grand Parade for free post-secondary education\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Students rallied together at Grand Parade in Halifax on Wednesday to call on the provincial and federal governments to make post-secondary education more accessible.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Around 35 rally attendees heard from the Canadian Federation of Students Nova Scotia (CFS-NS), the Association of Nova Scotia University Teachers (ANSUT), Nova Scotia Director for the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives Dr. Christine Saulnier, and students currently struggling due to the rising costs of tuition fees.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">A <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.studentsns.ca\/publication-archive\/who-goes-who-pays-part-1-an-examination-of-social-barriers-to-postsecondary-access\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">report<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> released in August from Students Nova Scotia found that tuition in the province is rising at a faster rate than the rest of Canada with a 20 per cent increase in the last six years.
