Recently, 34 education professionals from across the province were recognized for their contributions to their students, schools and community with the 2023 Premier\u2019s Awards for Excellence in Education, including a local teacher.<\/p>\n
Davy Dosanjh was born and raised in Terrace and is a former graduate of Caledonia Sr. Secondary School. He's now chair of Caledonia\u2019s social studies department, and he's involved in the school travel club, a debate club and is a key organizer each year of information and scheduling so that graduating students can apply for scholarships and bursaries.<\/p>\n
Dosanjh was nominated for the Excellence in Education award by Caledonia Secondary Counsellor Patsy Chant. The award also comes with a $2,000 bursary for professional learning. Dosanjh has just started a Masters of Education program at UBC and says he will use his personal bursary to help pay for expenses.<\/p>\n
The awards were first given in 2018 and this year, recipients were honoured Oct. 26 at a ceremony hosted by the Lieutenant-Governor Janet Austin at Government House in Victoria.<\/p>\n
