{"id":189265,"date":"2023-10-24T16:55:34","date_gmt":"2023-10-24T20:55:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/canada-info.ca\/?p=189265"},"modified":"2023-10-27T16:55:59","modified_gmt":"2023-10-27T20:55:59","slug":"the-food-sharing-project-partners-bring-12000-meals-to-kingston-area","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/canada-info.ca\/en\/the-food-sharing-project-partners-bring-12000-meals-to-kingston-area\/","title":{"rendered":"The Food Sharing Project, partners bring 12,000 meals to Kingston area"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On Saturday, 36 volunteers gathered at the Community Food Redistribution Warehouse on Sir John A Macdonald Blvd to assemble 2,000 food packages to be distributed in Kingston and the surrounding area.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In collaboration with RBC Wealth Management, Tenfed, and Kids Against Hunger Canada, the Food Sharing Project headed an event to bring together volunteers to pack meals for distribution in KFL&amp;A.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In under three hours, volunteers packed 2,000 packages, which amounts to 12,000 meals, consisting of high quality white rice, fortified, crushed soy, a blend of dehydrated vegetables, and other elements required for complete nutrition. The packages will be distributed locally to school nutrition programs through The Food Sharing Project, to families through Lionhearts\u2019 weekend food boxes, and through other community partners.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Brenda Moore, Chair of The Food Sharing Project, said it <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">was \"a marvelous day.\" <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It was so great, people were having fun. There was lots of laughing and conversation and I think it felt really good for people to do something so concrete.
