{"id":188970,"date":"2023-10-24T17:11:08","date_gmt":"2023-10-24T21:11:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/canada-info.ca\/?p=188970"},"modified":"2023-10-24T17:11:08","modified_gmt":"2023-10-24T21:11:08","slug":"selkirk-colleges-nelson-campus-to-host-first-intercultural-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/canada-info.ca\/en\/selkirk-colleges-nelson-campus-to-host-first-intercultural-day\/","title":{"rendered":"Selkirk College&#8217;s Nelson campus to host first Intercultural Day"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Selkirk College\u2019s Tenth Street Campus in Nelson will host their first <a href=\"https:\/\/selkirk.ca\/news\/community-invited-share-cultures?fbclid=IwAR3yjItIFgU_Rd_mQiN0-4OOGMImO7jPh9mAaxpDxz86uLr_q5pyOiGgFkA\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Intercultural Day<\/a> event this November.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Intercultural Day is an annual event at the Castlegar Campus that is designed to showcase the diversity of their students and other members of the surrounding community. This year there will be two events, one in Castlegar and one in Nelson.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Bob Hall, Selkirk\u2019s Communications Coordinator says, \u201cin order for this to be the successful event we want it to be, we want the community to come and set up a booth and share it with our students and staff.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Cultural groups are invited to share their traditions and history however they choose. Their booths can be information based, food offerings, games or activities, music and dance or any other culturally significant practice.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Selkirk College is home to international students from across the globe, many of which are working towards getting their permanent residency in Canada.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The event in Nelson is on Nov. 8, Castlegar\u2019s is on Nov. 16.
