The City of Prince George is in the midst of an Official Community Plan<\/a> Review, and one of the topics being addressed\u00a0is the role of bikes and bike lanes in the city. One of the central questions is '<\/span>Are bike lanes<\/a> for everybody?'<\/p>\n

It's a large topic with many considerations. The bicycle was a form of transportation well before the automobile became common. People debate the issue<\/a> and ask why there isn't more infrastructure<\/a> for this contraption in place already. But, much like a road for automobiles, a bicycle lane is expensive to build. If we look at dedicated bike lanes as an investment, do they pay off?<\/p>\n

To answer these questions and more, CFUR talked to\u00a0 Dr. Rylan Graham<\/a> and Dr. Mark Groulx<\/a> of University of Northern BC\u2019s School of Planning & Sustainability<\/a>. They explore Prince George\u2019s past, present, and potential future that could include bicycle lanes for residents of the city.<\/p>\n
