It was decided that along with the roof repairs, it would be a good time to install new domes.<\/p>\n<p>Assuming every dome has a story to tell, CFUR caught up with Vice President of the Guru Gobind Singh Temple Association, Tarlochan Singh Bhatti.<\/p>\n<p>Replacing them required a trip to India and trans-oceanic shipping. Made of fiberglass, these new domes are much lighter than the last array and much easier to install than their concrete counter-parts.<\/p>\n<p>This spring the building stood domeless until August when they appeared again, new, with a resplendent glow.<\/p>\n<p>The Guru Gobind Singh Temple stands as one of the more interesting buildings in Prince George, BC. The temple was registered in November 1974 and has been a standout feature in our community ever since. These domes are used to identify Sikh temples across the world. Even more ubiquitous though, is the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sikhiwiki.org\/index.php\/Nishan_Sahib\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Nishan Sahib<\/a>, a triangular flag with a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sikhiwiki.org\/index.php\/Nishan_Sahib#Khanda\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">khanda <\/a>symbol at its centre, which every Sikh temple features. Bhatti explains the flag, \u201csymbolizes that it is a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sikhiwiki.org\/index.php\/Gurdwara\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">gurdwara<\/a>, it\u2019s like, \u2018Guru\u2019s place\u2019.\u201d At the Guru Gobind Singh temple in Prince George, the Nishan Sahib flies atop of a particular flag pole which symbolizes a type of sword, a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sikhiwiki.org\/index.php\/Nishan_Sahib#Khanda\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">khanda<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Each Sunday at this temple, people in the community are welcome to participate in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sikhiwiki.org\/index.php\/Seva\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">seva<\/a>. Providing food is integral to this event, where all are welcome and can participate in the serving, cleaning, and overall logistics. A seva is held every Sunday around 1pm.
