Last week, three more names were added to the distinguished assembly: Janet Crawford, Marilyn Lerch, and Dan Steeves.<\/p>\n<p>CHMA spoke with all three new inductees, and brings you their voices as they talk about their work and their love for the cultural life of Sackville.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Literary Arts honoree: Marilyn Lerch<\/h2>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img class=\"wp-image-37993\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.chmafm.com\/welcome\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/IMG_2834.jpeg?resize=800%2C600&amp;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"706\" height=\"529\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Poet Marilyn Lerch at home in her writing studio. Photo: Erica Butler<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p>After a full career as an educator in the United States, Marilyn Lerch moved to Sackville in 1996 and took up her lifelong passion of writing poetry. Many acclaimed collections of poems later, Lerch is a respected cultural force and societal critic. She served as Poet Laureate of Sackville for four years from 2014 to 2018, and led the Writers\u2019 Federation of New Brunswick for four years from 2006 to 2010. Photo: Erica Butler<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p>Dan Steeves first came to Sackville as a student. Though he intended to move on, he ended up staying to raise a family and build his art practice, while also teaching printmaking and serving as printmaking technician at Mount Allison. Steeves\u2019 work has been acquired by public and private collections throughout Canada and the world, and his shows have also taken him around the world. Photo: Erica Butler<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p>Next year, Janet Crawford will celebrate 40 years presenting artworks as curator of Fog Forest Gallery, a pursuit that began in a variety of spaces before finding a home on Bridge Street in Sackville. Crawford is also a creator in her own right as a visual artist and musician, and last year released a record with Ray Legere featuring songs dedicated to Sackville\u2019s manufacturing heyday, called Foundry Town.
