Protestors gathered outside city hall in Nelson on Thursday to call on the provincial government to take action to protect old growth forests in BC.<\/p>\n
The event was organized by environmental group Wildsight<\/a> who say the BC government has failed to follow through with recommendations made in 2020 as part of the Old Growth Strategic Review<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cNone of those recommendations have yet been fully implemented and more than half of the old growth identified for protection in the review is still in danger of being clear cut \u2014 including stands in the Kootenays and Columbia,\u201d Eddie Petryshen, conservation specialist with Wildsight, said in a press release Monday.<\/p>\n Petryshen also addressed the crowd of roughly 75 people at city hall thanking the supporters.
