{"id":181992,"date":"2023-09-22T09:28:44","date_gmt":"2023-09-22T13:28:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/canada-info.ca\/?p=181992"},"modified":"2023-12-07T09:31:49","modified_gmt":"2023-12-07T14:31:49","slug":"northumberland-hills-hospital-opens-integrated-stroke-unit-in-cobourg","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/canada-info.ca\/en\/northumberland-hills-hospital-opens-integrated-stroke-unit-in-cobourg\/","title":{"rendered":"Northumberland Hills Hospital opens integrated stroke unit in Cobourg"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A new six-bed integrated stroke unit (ISU) will enable Northumberland Hills Hospital in Cobourg to offer both acute and recovery care.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Rose and Bob Avery Integrated Stroke Unit opened on Tuesday. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The unit is named in memory of Rose and Bob Avery, which is made possible by a donation from the Gupta family, who operated several businesses in Port Hope, including the Comfort Inn where the Averys were longtime employees.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bob was later a patient for an extended period of time at NHH after suffering a stroke and Rose was a frequent visitor, getting to know the staff and volunteers by name.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Support for the ISU is just one of the key projects identified within the NHH Foundation\u2019s $25 million dollar <a href=\"https:\/\/nhhfoundation.ca\/news\/nhh-foundation-launches-largest-fundraising-campaign-in-hospitals-history\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Exceptional Community, Exceptional Care<\/a> campaign.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Listen to the audio report below:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><br style=\"font-weight: 400;\" \/><br style=\"font-weight: 400;\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A new six-bed integrated stroke unit (ISU) will enable Northumberland Hills Hospital in Cobourg to offer both acute and recovery care.
