Funds for the vehicle were secured through the Columbia Basin Trust's <a href=\"https:\/\/www2.fundsforngos.org\/environment\/columbia-basin-trust-basin-charge-up-program-in-canada\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Charge Up program<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis funding has allowed us to take a significant step towards achieving our ambitious climate targets and demonstrates our shared commitment to promoting a safe, healthy, and low-carbon future,\" says Mayor Janice Morrison.<\/p>\n<p>This is one step in Nelson's commitment to promoting a cleaner and healthier climate: they call their climate plan <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nelson.ca\/804\/Nelson-Next-Climate-Plan\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Nelson Next<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The city's Senior Climate and Energy Strategist Cecilia Jaques joined CJLY to discuss the purchase of the new EV and the Nelson Next climate plan.
