{"id":16556,"date":"2020-10-23T12:25:22","date_gmt":"2020-10-23T16:25:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/canada-info.ca\/?p=16556"},"modified":"2020-10-23T12:37:05","modified_gmt":"2020-10-23T16:37:05","slug":"connecting-the-community-with-10000-messages4hope","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/canada-info.ca\/en\/connecting-the-community-with-10000-messages4hope\/","title":{"rendered":"Connecting the community with 10,000 Messages4Hope"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>For the past 2 years, the Here4Hope campaign put on by Wellington County and the <a href=\"https:\/\/cmhaww.ca\">Canadian Mental Health Association of Waterloo-Wellington<\/a> (CMHAWW) has been a live, in-person event, but this year they\u2019ve had to get creative.<\/p>\n<p>This year, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.messages4hope.ca\"><strong>Messages4Hope <\/strong><\/a>campaign, an extension of the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/here4hope.ca\/about\/\">Here4Hope<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>project, will allow the entire community to connect to each other.<\/p>\n<p>The campaign highlights the importance of meaningful connections to each other and encourages members of the community to reach out to one another with compassionate messages that foster hope.<\/p>\n<p>Cecilia-Marie Roberts, Suicide Prevention Project Lead for the Canadian Mental Health Association of Waterloo-Wellington tells us the goal of the campaign.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo have the entire community talking about the importance of connecting, we hope to send 10,000 messages of hope in the 10 days that the campaign is running,\u201d Roberts said.<\/p>\n<p>Roberts says during these difficult times, it\u2019s appropriate to focus on connection and a sense of belonging.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen we belong, when we feel connected to others it now makes us feel welcomed and accepted, and safe enough to kind of be ourselves, and to show up and contribute. [\u2026] When everyone in a community experiences this sense of belonging there\u2019s kind of this natural shift towards an attitude of taking care of one another,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Roberts says connected and caring communities keep people well.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cResearch shows us that if you feel like you belong, and your valued, and accepted, you\u2019re less likely to suffer from poor health, and I mean poor physical health, but also poor mental health.
