{"id":161594,"date":"2023-06-16T17:00:04","date_gmt":"2023-06-16T21:00:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/canada-info.ca\/?p=161594"},"modified":"2023-06-22T01:27:09","modified_gmt":"2023-06-22T05:27:09","slug":"mp-mike-morrice-discusses-the-canadian-disability-act-as-it-nears-approval","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/canada-info.ca\/en\/mp-mike-morrice-discusses-the-canadian-disability-act-as-it-nears-approval\/","title":{"rendered":"MP Mike Morrice discusses the Canadian Disability Act as it nears approval"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">With <a href=\"https:\/\/www.parl.ca\/LegisInfo\/en\/bill\/44-1\/C-22\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the approval of Bill C-22<\/a>, <em>the Canadian Disability Act<\/em>, on the way soon, <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Kitchener Centre Green Party MP Mike Morrice said the bill is an important stepping stone.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Morrice said that this is the first phase to seeing more concrete supports implemented \u2013 supports many Canadians have been waiting a very long time to materialize.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In an interview with CKMS, Morrice discussed some of the problems with the bill due to push back from the Liberal government, <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">which includes, ending the support at the age of 65 when the recipient becomes eligible for old-age-support.
