A property on in Belwood featuring a schoolhouse built in the late 1800s has a busy summer ahead but the historic spot's future uses are undecided.<\/p>\n

The Skol House, as its known, at 24 North Broadway St. is a \u201cmagic spot a stone\u2019s throw away from the lake,\u201d according to co-owner Noah Klar. The venue\u00a0will be hosting ten concerts throughout the summer starting on Canada Day.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s the idea for the property for now, but as construction continues at the 1800s schoolhouse, Klar says he and co-owner Jefferson Wilde welcome feedback from community members.<\/p>\n

\"We know we want people to enjoy this space. So, that's our end goal; we want to bring people back. How exactly we do that, we're very open to feedback from the people who use the space. That's kind of our approach,\" Klar said.<\/p>\n

The concert series, featuring a headlining show from Nelson Sobral and his band on Canada Day, is a great showcase of the rich pocket of talent that exists in the Fergus-Elora area, Klar says.<\/p>\n

\"What we hope to do at the schoolhouse this year and next year is really put a spotlight on some of the fantastic talent that exists around here. Especially in the Fergus-Elora area it's a real pocket that's so dense with talent, so we're hoping to shine a light on that a little bit,\" Klar stated.<\/p>\n

The building \"needs some love,\" Klar says, as it has been abandoned for so long. But he says the plan is not to wait for several years before opening it up to locals.<\/p>\n
