{"id":160789,"date":"2023-06-16T14:12:17","date_gmt":"2023-06-16T18:12:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/canada-info.ca\/?p=160789"},"modified":"2023-06-16T14:12:17","modified_gmt":"2023-06-16T18:12:17","slug":"council-greenlights-county-road-49-fund-to-raise-10-million","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/canada-info.ca\/en\/council-greenlights-county-road-49-fund-to-raise-10-million\/","title":{"rendered":"Council greenlights County Road 49 fund to raise $10 million"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Prince Edward County is looking to the community to help raise $10-million to fix one of the area's roads.<\/p>\n<p>On Tuesday, Council approved the creation of the County Road 49 Community Benefit Fund in order to fund a third of its projected $30 million price tag.<\/p>\n<p>The fund will allow for individuals and businesses to donate towards the reconstruction of the 18.6 kilometre high-traffic volume road. Originally built in 1965, the road regularly features in CAA\u2019s annual <a href=\"https:\/\/www.caasco.com\/advocacy\/worst-roads\/2023-results\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ontario Top 10 Worst Roads<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The hoped-for $10 million dollars will be used as leverage to secure funding from the Ontario and federal governments for the remainder of reconstruction funding.<\/p>\n<p>Hillier Coun.
