On June 4, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mrcpontiac.qc.ca\/en\/forest-fires-modification-of-the-territory-affected-by-the-ban-on-forest-access-on-crown-land-by-road-closures\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the MRC closed the roads<\/a> north of latitude 46\u00b0 15\u2032 in the Pontiac and ordered anyone in that part of the territory to evacuate.<\/p>\n<p>MRC Pontiac Fire and Public Safety coordinator Julien Gagnon explained that the forest fires in the region were all <a href=\"https:\/\/sopfeu.qc.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">listed by the SOPFEU<\/a> (Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 de protection des for\u00eats contre le feu) as either contained or extinguished. He added that while the barricades on certain roads may still be in place until workers have a chance to remove them, the roads are now open to the public.<\/p>\n<!--[if lt IE 9]><script>document.createElement('audio');<\/script><![endif]-->\n<audio class=\"wp-audio-shortcode\" id=\"audio-160359-1\" preload=\"none\" style=\"width: 100%;\" controls=\"controls\"><source type=\"audio\/mpeg\" src=\"https:\/\/canada-info.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/Clip-Julien-Gagnon-fire-update-June-12.mp3?_=1\" \/><a href=\"https:\/\/canada-info.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/Clip-Julien-Gagnon-fire-update-June-12.mp3\">https:\/\/canada-info.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/Clip-Julien-Gagnon-fire-update-June-12.mp3<\/a><\/audio>\n<p>He added that despite the rain that much of the region has received, a fire ban is still in effect until SOPFEU announces otherwise.
