{"id":157620,"date":"2023-06-13T09:22:02","date_gmt":"2023-06-13T13:22:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/canada-info.ca\/?p=157620"},"modified":"2023-06-13T09:22:02","modified_gmt":"2023-06-13T13:22:02","slug":"queens-ranks-1st-in-canada-3rd-worldwide-in-2023-times-higher-education-impact-rankings","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/canada-info.ca\/en\/queens-ranks-1st-in-canada-3rd-worldwide-in-2023-times-higher-education-impact-rankings\/","title":{"rendered":"Queen\u2019s ranks 1st in Canada, 3rd worldwide in 2023 Times Higher Education Impact Rankings"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.timeshighereducation.com\/impactrankings\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings<\/a> were recently released with Queen\u2019s University being ranked first in Canada and third worldwide out of over 1,700 participating institutions. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The ranking marks the university\u2019s best performance to date with its third consecutive top-ten finish.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The THE Impact Rankings are an annual ranking that assess universities across the world in their advancement of the United Nations\u2019 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The SDGs, established by UN member nations in 2015, consist of 17 goals to guide global action in the pursuit of ending poverty, protecting the environment, and overall attaining prosperity and peace for people and the planet. Since the university rankings began in 2019, Queen\u2019s is the first Canadian university to achieve three top-ten placements.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cIt is an honour to be recognized for our institution\u2019s ongoing contributions to advancing the SDGs. These goals are reflective of the university\u2019s mission and our desire to be recognized as a global institution,\u201d says Patrick Deane, principal and vice-chancellor. \u201cThe Impact Rankings have played an instrumental role in bringing together our community by creating a focus on the numerous ways Queen\u2019s is engaged in solving the world\u2019s most pressing challenges. Our performance in the rankings tells us that we are on the right track, and our efforts are having an impact.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In this year\u2019s evaluation, the university submitted over 400 pieces of evidence to demonstrate the institution's commitment to SDGs. Queen\u2019s was assessed as first in the world for<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> SDG 2: Zero Hunger<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, recognizing initiatives that help address food insecurity on campus and provide immediate support. The university was ranked second in the world, and first in Canada for <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">SDG 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, with special mention of Queen\u2019s Model Parliament.
