The assembly took place April 3-6 in Ottawa.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">In her submission, Miller spoke about the main highlights of the conference but it was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.international.gc.ca\/transparency-transparence\/indigenous-reconciliation-autochtones\/index.aspx?lang=eng\">Canada\u2019s Action Plan<\/a> regarding the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.un.org\/development\/desa\/indigenouspeoples\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/19\/2018\/11\/UNDRIP_E_web.pdf\">United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous People<\/a> or UNDRIP that Chief Mark Hill stated as being the big takeaway and referred to as UNDRA or the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gc.ca\/eng\/declaration\/about-apropos.html#:~:text=need%20this%20legislation%3F-,The%20United%20Nations%20Declaration%20on%20the%20Rights%20of%20Indigenous%20Peoples,non%2Ddiscrimination%20and%20good%20faith.\">\u201cUnited Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act\u201d.<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Other topic\u2019s mentioned by Miller from the Assembly included Health and Child Welfare,<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>specifically the <a href=\"https:\/\/fncaringsociety.com\/sites\/default\/files\/1965%20Agreement%20final_0.pdf\">1965 Child Welfare Agreement<\/a> to which further information will be coming at a later date.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Listen to the report below.<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A verbal update by Elected Councillor Helen Miller at the Six Nations General Elected Council meeting on April 11 addressed the recent Assembly of First Nations Special Chiefs Assembly she attended along with Elected Chief Mark Hill.
