A woman in Whaletown was woken up to a stranger knocking on her door at 1 a.m<\/a>. on April 5. RCMP confirmed that the individual is suspected to be the same individual that assaulted a member of the Klahoose community in winter 2022.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201c<\/span>We do believe it is the same person from last year from the information given to us,\u201d Cst. Rebekah Draught stated in email to CKTZ.<\/span><\/p>\n

A description of the individual was provided in a recent Quadra Island RCMP media release from April 9.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201c<\/span>The man was described as wearing a camo jacket and a loose fitting toque. Quadra RCMP had received other multiple complaints regarding this individual. Extra patrols and officers have been tasked with attempts to locate this man, however, they have not been successful at this time. It is believed that this individual lives in the bush in one of the small islands and boats into Cortes,\" the statement reads. \"As of now, the Quadra RCMP would like to make contact with this man and assess his well being.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The incident at the Klahoose community is reminiscent of the situation involving the individual the RCMP is currently seeking. During the winter 2022 incident, witnesses reported a man in camo clothing knocking on residents\u2019 doors in the Klahoose community. The RCMP was called more than once while the individual was harassing community members. A member of the Klahoose community was assaulted by the man in camo, but RCMP did not immediately respond to the incident, according to the victim of the assault. The perpetrator was eventually arrested but no charges were laid. At the time, Draught clarified the reasoning for no charges with CKTZ News.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThere was an arrest, but the people involved were not interested in going with charges, which I didn't disagree with. It was more mental health related, I believe. And that's where that file went.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Draught encourages the Cortes community to call Quadra dispatch right away if they locate the man in camo.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
