{"id":146370,"date":"2023-03-24T14:46:35","date_gmt":"2023-03-24T18:46:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/canada-info.ca\/?p=146370"},"modified":"2023-03-24T15:24:45","modified_gmt":"2023-03-24T19:24:45","slug":"off-highway-vehicles-permitted-on-more-ns-roads-following-successful-pilot","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/canada-info.ca\/en\/off-highway-vehicles-permitted-on-more-ns-roads-following-successful-pilot\/","title":{"rendered":"Off-highway vehicles permitted on more NS roads following successful pilot"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Off road vehicles have found a home on the province\u2019s highways following the introduction of the new <em>Road Trails Act<\/em> in the legislature Friday.<\/p>\n<p>The new legislation will provide riders with improved trail connections and better access to services like gas stations and restaurants.The act follows on the work of a pilot project that has been in place in seven communities across Nova Scotia since 2018.<\/p>\n<p>Public Works Minister and MLA for Queens Kim Masland says the pilot demonstrated that roads can be safely shared by all.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFive years, think about that. Most pilot projects are not for five years,\" said Masland. \"So, the data that was collected during that time, the stakeholder outreach, the relationships that were built, I don\u2019t foresee any tremendous issues.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Under the introduced act, riders travelling the highways are required to have a valid driver's licence, insurance, registration, and a licence plate.
