Hydro says they are anticipating an increase in energy demand in the northwest in the coming years due to industrial development.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bchydro.com\/energy-in-bc\/projects\/north-coast-bc-electrification\/express-interest.html?utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=redirect&amp;utm_content=northcoast\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">On Feb. 15, B.C. Hydro released an Expression of Interest (EOI)<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> for current or potential industrial partners between Prince George and Prince Rupert to gauge the need for electrical transmission infrastructure.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Multiple industry developments are ongoing in the area including liquefied natural gas projects like <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cedarlng.com\/about\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Cedar LNG <\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lngcanada.ca\/about-lng-canada\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">LNG Canada,<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0as well as the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.artemisgoldinc.com\/blackwater-project\/blackwater-gold-project\/project-development-plan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Blackwater Gold Mine<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> southwest of Burns Lake.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Despite the company\u2019s ongoing capacitor installation project \u2014 which is seeing capacitor stations being constructed near Vanderhoof, Burns Lake, and Terrace \u2014 Hydro has already reserved around $3 billion for the potential development of new energy infrastructure.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The EOI is available until April 11.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Listen to the CFNR story with Mike Kellett below:<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>B.C.
