{"id":143689,"date":"2023-03-09T17:04:01","date_gmt":"2023-03-09T22:04:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/canada-info.ca\/?p=143689"},"modified":"2023-03-09T17:04:01","modified_gmt":"2023-03-09T22:04:01","slug":"indigenous-boys-matter-too-program-aims-to-inspire-young-men-in-edmonton","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/canada-info.ca\/en\/indigenous-boys-matter-too-program-aims-to-inspire-young-men-in-edmonton\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;Indigenous Boys Matter Too!&#8217; program aims to inspire young men in Edmonton"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"sc-sidebar-wrapper sidebar-align-right\" data-hascontent=\"true\">\n<div class=\"sc-content\">\n<article class=\"mainArticle\">\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">The Creating Hope Society of Alberta has been running an ongoing program called \u201cIndigenous Boys Matter Too!\u201d, a non-therapeutic program that promotes wellness for Indigenous men.<\/p>\n<p>The program is meant to help Indigenous men start their healing journey, better themselves, and teach Indigenous ceremony and culture.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">The first cycle of the brand-new program is currently underway, while the second cycle is set to open up in April and kick off in May.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">Ambrose Cardinal, program coordinator of \u201cIndigenous Boys Matter Too!,\u201d spoke with CFWE about how the purpose of the program is to \"provide a base-cultural knowledge and an understanding of how to better themselves through our culture.\"<\/p>\n<\/article>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"scroller\">\n<div class=\"scroll-clip\">\n<div class=\"scroll-content\" style=\"text-align: left\">The program originated from the feedback received from a study that Creating Hope Society did a decade ago, but the society couldn't secure enough funding to get the program off of the ground until this year.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"sc-sidebar-wrapper sidebar-align-right\">\n<div class=\"sc-content\">\n<article class=\"mainArticle\">\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">Cardinal also hopes that all of the Indigenous men that take part in the program, both current and future participants, leave with a greater sense of pride in themselves.<\/p>\n<p>\"What we're hoping to instill is: self-pride, self-esteem, and the development of sustainable roles for Indigenous males in the community... so they can provide for their families and live the traditional way,\" he said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">More information can be found at the Creating Hope Society\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.creatinghopesociety.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">website<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u200b\u200b<strong>Listen to the full CFWE Interview below with Ambrose Cardinal:<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/article>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Creating Hope Society of Alberta has been running an ongoing program called \u201cIndigenous Boys Matter Too!\u201d, a non-therapeutic program that promotes wellness for Indigenous men.
