{"id":143177,"date":"2023-03-06T17:01:09","date_gmt":"2023-03-06T22:01:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/canada-info.ca\/?p=143177"},"modified":"2023-03-06T17:09:25","modified_gmt":"2023-03-06T22:09:25","slug":"toronto-announces-new-funding-for-44-cultural-festivals","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/canada-info.ca\/en\/toronto-announces-new-funding-for-44-cultural-festivals\/","title":{"rendered":"Toronto announces new funding for 44 cultural festivals"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Toronto Deputy Mayor Jennifer McKelvie is announcing new $2 million in funding for cultural festivals this summer.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u201cOn behalf of the City of Toronto and City Council, I am thrilled that through the 2023 budget we are funding $2 million for\u00a0<span class=\"il\">cultural<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"il\">festivals<\/span> that contribute immensely to the economic and social life and vibrancy of Toronto,\" said McKelvie.<\/p>\n<p>\"The <span class=\"il\">Cultural<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"il\">Festivals<\/span>\u00a0Funding Program supports the development of the\u00a0<span class=\"il\">festival<\/span>\u00a0sector, while promoting access, equity, inclusion, service innovation, excellence and resilience. I look forward to joining tens of thousands of Torontonians and visitors to our city at many of the\u00a0<span class=\"il\">cultural<\/span>\u00a0events and\u00a0<span class=\"il\">festivals<\/span>\u00a0that will be taking place across the city starting as soon as this spring.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The funding will go towards at least 44 approved cultural festivals.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">McKelvie was joined by Coun. Shelley Carroll of Don Valley North, at the announcement.
