In its fifth edition, the event aims to bring people together around a variety of activities and sports to celebrate the winter season.

The event was originally scheduled to take place on Feb. 4, but due to extremely cold weather conditions it was postposed to this Saturday, Feb. 25. Taking place at Douglass Beach, the Town of Brome Lake invites residents and visitors to the area to partake in some of their favourite winter activities, and to perhaps discover some new ones.

“The main goal is to have a family event outside to celebrate winter, just having some fun at the beach with some fun activities going on. It’s really a nice little event mainly for our residents, but everybody is welcome to show up at the beach on that day,” said Martin Lussier, coordinator of leisure and community life for the Town of Brome Lake.

There will be inflatable games, we are having bubble soccer, also there will be a rink as always, noted Lussier.

“We’re also having rentals for snowshoeing, cross-country, we’re having skates too, and our famous skate sleds. It wasn’t supposed to be at the first event on Feb. 4, but now we added snowskate workshops, that will be fun for the kids, and we also have ice fishing work shops,” he added. “There’s not a lot of people that have tried snow skating so that’s why we thought it would be a good idea.”

Lussier explained that snowskate is a mix between skateboarding and snowboarding.

“It’s like a skateboard, but without wheels. It’s smaller than a snowboard. Baratanga is a drumming group who will have workshops around the fire. People will sit with them and drum on a bucket.
