{"id":138117,"date":"2023-01-27T18:18:42","date_gmt":"2023-01-27T23:18:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/canada-info.ca\/?p=138117"},"modified":"2023-01-27T18:18:42","modified_gmt":"2023-01-27T23:18:42","slug":"council-rejects-pound-keeper-proposal-for-at-large-cattle-again","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/canada-info.ca\/en\/council-rejects-pound-keeper-proposal-for-at-large-cattle-again\/","title":{"rendered":"Council rejects Pound Keeper proposal for at-large cattle again"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The issue of at-large cattle on Salem Road reared its head again on Tuesday at the Prince Edward County council meeting.<\/p>\n<p>Council, last April <a href=\"https:\/\/canada-info.ca\/en\/prince-edward-county-council-denies-need-for-a-local-pound-keeper-once-again\/\">and May<\/a>, had previously examined the issue of whether to bring in additional by-laws (under the provincial Pounds Act) to remedy the problem of escaping cattle, from a nearby farm, onto the road.<\/p>\n<p>Ameliasburgh Coun. Roy Pennell proposed the resolution for appointing a municipal pound keeper. However, council was unsupportive, with the resolution only gaining two votes.<\/p>\n<p>Before the vote, Pennell warned, \u201cif it\u2019s your neighbour that gets killed, or my neighbor, and we do not act, after it has been before this council a second time\u2026then we all get blamed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Bloomfield\/Hallowell Coun.
