{"id":137398,"date":"2023-01-24T14:05:42","date_gmt":"2023-01-24T19:05:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/canada-info.ca\/?p=137398"},"modified":"2023-01-24T14:05:42","modified_gmt":"2023-01-24T19:05:42","slug":"second-nelson-police-officer-dies-following-fatal-b-c-avalanche","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/canada-info.ca\/en\/second-nelson-police-officer-dies-following-fatal-b-c-avalanche\/","title":{"rendered":"Second Nelson police officer dies following fatal B.C avalanche"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Mathieu Nolet, the second officer caught in the fatal avalanche in Kaslo on Jan. 9, has died in a Kelowna hospital.<\/p>\n<p>On Saturday morning, Nelson Police Chief Donovan Fisher and Nelson Mayor Janice Morrison announced the loss, which came 11 days after Nolet and Wade Tittemore were overtaken by an avalanche while skiing in the backcountry.<\/p>\n<p>The 28-year-old Nelson police officer had worked with the department for just over a year when he sustained serious injuries in the avalanche that also killed Const. Wade Tittemore. He was treated in the Trail hospital ICU, but was later transferred to Kelowna.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">\u201cIt is hard to fully express the sadness we are feeling here,\u201d said Nelson Police Chief Donovan Fisher in a statement. \u201cThe memorial for Constable Tittemore was this past week, and now we\u2019ve lost a second officer and friend.
