{"id":137101,"date":"2023-01-26T21:45:17","date_gmt":"2023-01-27T02:45:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/canada-info.ca\/?p=137101"},"modified":"2023-01-26T21:45:17","modified_gmt":"2023-01-27T02:45:17","slug":"toronto-introduces-new-grants-to-boost-small-business-recovery","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/canada-info.ca\/en\/toronto-introduces-new-grants-to-boost-small-business-recovery\/","title":{"rendered":"Toronto introduces new grants to boost small business recovery"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Toronto Mayor John Tory and city partners are announcing plans for a $5.4 million grant to help small businesses this winter season.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\"Toronto\u2019s small businesses are vital to our city\u2019s success,\" Tory said to the media at Berkeley Castle investments building on the Esplanade. \"<\/span>As we continue to rebuild from the pandemic the City of Toronto is committed to supporting small businesses and ensuring we come back stronger than ever. I want to thank both the federal and provincial governments for their continued support for our small businesses and for funding for the Toronto Main Street Recovery and Rebuild Initiative.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The grant will be used for three programs.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">First, the new Transit Expansion Construction Mitigation Grant Program<\/span> will help mitigate the impacts of construction on local businesses. Toronto continues to see several construction sites geared towards expanding light rail train service along Eglinton Ave. and Finch Ave. In Scarborough, construction to replace the LRT with a subway extension has begun as well.<\/p>\n<p>Second, the\u00a0<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Main Street Innovation Fund <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">will fund BIAs(Business Improvement Area) and not-for-profit organizations to help businesses navigate through challenges together.
