{"id":127093,"date":"2022-11-16T11:13:42","date_gmt":"2022-11-16T16:13:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/canada-info.ca\/?p=127093"},"modified":"2022-11-17T09:24:41","modified_gmt":"2022-11-17T14:24:41","slug":"michael-kaeshammer-set-to-turn-it-up-in-kingston","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/canada-info.ca\/en\/michael-kaeshammer-set-to-turn-it-up-in-kingston\/","title":{"rendered":"Michael Kaeshammer set to turn it up in Kingston"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pianist, composer and vocalist Michael Kaeshammer's <a href=\"http:\/\/kaeshammer.com\/tour\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">coast-to-coast tour<\/a> is making a stop at <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kingstongrand.ca\/events\/michael-kaeshammer-coast-to-coast\">The Grand Theatre<\/a> in Kingston next Friday.\u00a0 <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Kaeshammer\u2019s music draws from several different genres including jazz, boogie-woogie, classical, rock and more.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cI see the whole thing as just my thing, my style. I see myself as a piano player, not a jazz piano player, not a boogie-woogie piano player, just a piano player,\u201d says Kaeshammer.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Kaeshammer adds the influences on his piano playing come from styles he grew up listening to:<\/span><\/p>\n<!--[if lt IE 9]><script>document.createElement('audio');<\/script><![endif]-->\n<audio class=\"wp-audio-shortcode\" id=\"audio-127093-1\" preload=\"none\" style=\"width: 100%;\" controls=\"controls\"><source type=\"audio\/mpeg\" src=\"https:\/\/canada-info.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/Kaeshammer-CLip-1.mp3?_=1\" \/><a href=\"https:\/\/canada-info.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/Kaeshammer-CLip-1.mp3\">https:\/\/canada-info.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/Kaeshammer-CLip-1.mp3<\/a><\/audio>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He adds he is also a fan of hard rock and pop music which influences his songwriting.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cI was a huge AC\/DC fan\u2026Phil Collins\u2026whatever was on the radio at the time, MTV was a big thing, for songwriting, all those different styles have influenced me. I\u2019m a big fan of the traditional verse, pre-chorus, chorus, Beatles, Tom Petty, that kind of songwriting, I love that.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Kaeshammer is currently on a tour across Canada to promote his upcoming album <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Turn It Up<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, which is set to be released in March.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cI reconnected with a producer friend of mine from Toronto, Ron Lapada who used to play keyboards with Jacksoul\u2026We started working on songs that I wrote during the pandemic, he took my songs and packaged them into something more current\u2026.all originals, except we did a cover of \u201cCrazy Little Thing Called Love\u2026 going through the record collection that seemed like something that stuck out and would translate very well,\u201d says Kaeshammer.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He says the live shows will include selections from his earlier albums along with songs from <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Turn It Up<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cI have a pool of songs that work from past recordings in front of an audience and with the band, but there\u2019s a whole bunch of new songs from this <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Turn It Up<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> record that we\u2019re previewing on tour and trying out in front of an audience,\u201d says Kaeshammer.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Kaeshammer says this is his longest Canadian tour. He is currently in New Brunswick, and will begin the Ontario leg of the tour in Ottawa at Shenkman Art Centre on Friday, Nov. 18.
