The word is out.\u00a0Sue Moen<\/a>, who ran for the\u00a0Green party<\/a> in the last provincial election and had hoped to do it again, informed Cortes Currents on Tuesday. Independent biologist Alexandra Morton<\/a> is the Green candidate in British Columbia's North Island riding.<\/p>\n

Morton proclaimed her intention<\/h2>\n

Morton proclaimed her intention to run\u00a0on Facebook four days ago<\/a> (Monday).<\/p>\n

\u201cI am seeking nomination to run for MLA for North Island as a Green Candidate.\u00a0 I need 175 signatures by 1st ferry on Wednesday.\u00a0 I will be at the Li\u2019l Wild Gift Shop at the new dock (in Sontula) from 12-2:30.\u00a0 You can sign, or give me an earful!\u201d the post stated.<\/p>\n

That meeting occurred yesterday.<\/p>\n

The Norwegian based website salmonbusiness.com has been observing events and\u00a0posted<\/a>\u00a0that \u201cthe anti-salmon farming activist\u201d has \u201cmore than double\u201d the number of signatures required on her nomination.<\/p>\n

The Tyee announced Morton\u2019s candidacy<\/h2>\n

As of today, the Green Party has yet to announce Alexandra Morton is their candidate and Morton has not returned Cortes Currents queries, but the Tyee<\/a>\u00a0ran the story yesterday.<\/p>\n

\u201cI admire and respect Alexandra and think she\u2019ll be a wonderful candidate and I will work with her to get her elected,\" Sue Moen is quoted.<\/p>\n

Dallas Smith<\/a>, who ran as a BC Liberal in 2017, told the Tyee, \u201cI think Alexandra will definitely take away from the NDP in this one.\u201d<\/p>\n
