{"id":120082,"date":"2022-10-17T14:13:07","date_gmt":"2022-10-17T18:13:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/canada-info.ca\/?p=120082"},"modified":"2022-10-17T14:13:07","modified_gmt":"2022-10-17T18:13:07","slug":"housing-affordability-headline-ward-11-all-candidates-forum","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/canada-info.ca\/en\/housing-affordability-headline-ward-11-all-candidates-forum\/","title":{"rendered":"Housing, affordability headline Ward 11 all-candidates forum"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As the Toronto municipal election enters its final stretch with early polls, an all-candidates forum gave residents an opportunity to hear their platforms.<\/p>\n<p>The Ward 11 University-Rosedale all-candidates forum, hosted at the Cecil St. Community Centre, also allowed residents to meet their candidates and speak with them one-on-one at each table around the venue.<\/p>\n<p>Each candidate was given two minutes for an introduction before answering questions.<\/p>\n<p>The questions were pre-submitted by the public and focused on affordable housing, the environment, working with the Ontario government to spearhead new city-based initiatives and instituting <a href=\"https:\/\/www.toronto.ca\/city-government\/planning-development\/planning-studies-initiatives\/kensington-market-heritage-conservation-district-plan\/\">cultural and heritage designations<\/a> for Kensignton Market.<\/p>\n<p>Candidates present at the forum include: Dianne Saxe, Pierre Therrien, Alison Pang, Peter Lovering, Adam Golding, Norm Di Pasquale, Robin Buxton Potts and Axel Arvizu.<\/p>\n<p>Affordability, including rent control, protection against renovictions and inclusionary zoning were central during the forum.<\/p>\n<p>For the rest of October, candidate debates<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0are expected to be a mix of both virtual and in-person.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The most recent Ward 11 was hosted on Oct. 12 virtually.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">CJRU reached out to all Ward 11 candidates.
