{"id":119269,"date":"2022-09-30T14:02:59","date_gmt":"2022-09-30T18:02:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/canada-info.ca\/?p=119269"},"modified":"2022-09-30T14:02:59","modified_gmt":"2022-09-30T18:02:59","slug":"democratie-directe-brome-missisquoi-candidate-pierre-fontaine","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/canada-info.ca\/en\/democratie-directe-brome-missisquoi-candidate-pierre-fontaine\/","title":{"rendered":"D\u00e9mocratie Directe: Brome-Missisquoi candidate Pierre Fontaine\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p4\">The Quebec provincial election is quickly making its way around the corner with voting day taking place on Monday, October 3.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p4\">According to the \u00c9lections Quebec website, there are ten candidates running in the Brome-Missisquoi region for this year\u2019s election.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p4\">These candidates are: Isabelle Charest (Coalition avenir Qu\u00e9bec), Pierre Fontaine (D\u00e9mocratie directe), S\u00e9bastien Houle (Ind\u00e9pendant), Alexandre Legault (Qu\u00e9bec solidaire), Lynn Moore (Canadian Party of Qu\u00e9bec), Caitlin Moynan (Green Party), Guillaume Paquet (Parti qu\u00e9b\u00e9cois), St\u00e9phanie Pr\u00e9vost (Parti conservateur du Qu\u00e9bec), Tommy Quirion-Bouchard (Climat Qu\u00e9bec), and Claude Vadeboncoeur (Quebec Liberal Party).<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p4\">For the next week and half, CIDI 99.1 FM is sitting down with candidates who<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>will speak on their political platform and the issues they plan to address in the Brome-Missisquoi riding and at the provincial level.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p4\">Pierre Fontaine, candidate for D\u00e9mocratie Directe, is hoping to bring a new form of politics to the Brome-Missisquoi region after working as a municipal councillor in St-Armande.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p4\">\u201cFor D\u00e9mocratie Directe, we have no promises, only obligations. It\u2019s not a slogan, it\u2019s the will to establish democracy for all the people, by the people,\u201d emphasized Fontaine.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p4\">He added that he wants to abolish the current way of politics and create a resource management centre.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p4\">\u201cLet\u2019s work together. Let\u2019s get the community involved in the process of improvement. Each locality has it needs and challenge. The conscious for D\u00e9mocratie Directe is our management of human resources in health, education, finance, climate, legacy, etc.,\u201d explained Fontaine.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p4\">Fontaine noted that his commitment is to look to the future.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p4\">\u201cTo our children, let\u2019s leave them a legacy of an abundance of resources, let\u2019s develop concrete long-term projects. Let\u2019s always have stability and prosperity for the people,\u201d he said.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p4\">As a party for the people, by the people, Fontaine explained that D\u00e9mocratie Directe does not choose specific issues to be addressed and projects to be implemented, it all comes down to what that people want and need.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p4\">\u201cI want to just work with the community to see where exactly we have the problems in the community of Brome-Missisquoi. After, with every issue for every person, I will work on the side,\u201d he said.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p4\">Addressing Bill 96, Fontaine said that does not plan to appeal it from \u201ctop to the bottom,\u201d but will work for what the people want.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p4\">\u201cI found that it was done in a cowardly way for the government to make this law here. We at D\u00e9mocratie Directe work for the people. So, what people want are bilingual schools (access to French and English schools) for all of our communities,\u201d explained Fontaine. \u201cIt is really, really, really, rich for all communities to speak French and English, I think, for D\u00e9mocratie Directe. It\u2019s good for the people.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p4\">Wanting to bring a new form of politics to Quebec, Fontaine noted what sets D\u00e9mocratie Directe apart from other political parties.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p4\">\u201cI don\u2019t present myself as a candidate or political representative, I present myself as the spokesperson of the people. An advantage of our party, (\u2026) is that my position, in the long term, I\u2019m not guaranteed four years.
