{"id":114949,"date":"2022-09-08T18:17:58","date_gmt":"2022-09-08T22:17:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/canada-info.ca\/?p=114949"},"modified":"2022-09-08T18:17:58","modified_gmt":"2022-09-08T22:17:58","slug":"albino-hummingbirds-spotted-on-six-nations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/canada-info.ca\/en\/albino-hummingbirds-spotted-on-six-nations\/","title":{"rendered":"Albino hummingbirds spotted on Six Nations"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The Six Nations Wildlife and Stewardship office revealed that a rare albino hummingbird species has been seen and documented making its home on the territory of six nations.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0Lauren Jones Wildlife Management Assistant was able to find the species during her ecological land classification fieldwork days and said that the find was very exciting news.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> In an email Jones shared that while on fieldwork during an ecological land classification (ELC) investigation she and her team discovered 2-3 albino hummingbirds.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Albinism is a genetic condition that tends to be very, very rare. There are a lot of different species that can have albinism including dogs, humans, and zebras. Photo Courtesy of Lauren Jones<\/p><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">As of now, the Wildlife and Stewardship Office plans to leave them alone, appreciate that they are here, and check back next year to see if they return.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">If anyone on six nations has seen albino Hummingbirds, know that you are seeing a very rare and unique animal. And Jones says she\u2019d love to hear about their experience.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Six Nations wildlife and stewardship office is still completing Ecological Land Classification investigations throughout September.
