Sweeny T\u2019s Barbershop is lending a helping hand when it comes to a local six-year-old fighting brain cancer.<\/p>\n

Owner of Sweeny T\u2019s, Tristan Hastings, is cutting hair for 12-hours straight to raise funds for the local youth, Simon Edgar-Dickert, and raise awareness for childhood cancer.<\/p>\n

September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month and local businesses are placing gold bikes outside their shops that accept donations for Edgar-Dickert.<\/p>\n

Hastings says he got involved because the campaign hits close to home for him.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy oldest son has leukemia and we\u2019ve been fighting since he was three-and-a-half and he\u2019s 10-years-old now, but he has two years left until he\u2019s declared cancer free,\u201d Hastings said.<\/p>\n\n

\u201cWhen I saw what was happening I knew I wanted to take it to the next level, because I know how important the Ronald McDonald house is, and I know the struggles that families are going through that have children with cancer,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Hasting\u2019s goal is to raise $2,000 and, if he reaches that, Rob, from The River\u2019s Morning Show, will get a cancer ribbon shaved into the back of his head.<\/p>\n

All donations will go to Edgar-Dickert and Ronald McDonald House charities.<\/p>\n
