{"id":111651,"date":"2022-08-18T13:53:24","date_gmt":"2022-08-18T17:53:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/canada-info.ca\/?p=111651"},"modified":"2022-08-18T16:13:56","modified_gmt":"2022-08-18T20:13:56","slug":"queens-neuroscience-centre-look-to-create-an-emergency-fund-for-students","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/canada-info.ca\/en\/queens-neuroscience-centre-look-to-create-an-emergency-fund-for-students\/","title":{"rendered":"Queen&#8217;s Neuroscience centre look to create an emergency fund for students"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <a href=\"http:\/\/neuroscience.queensu.ca\/\">Centre for Neuroscience Studies<\/a> is hosting a Neur Run to support their students on Sunday Aug. 28 at Tindall Field on Queen\u2019s University campus. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dominique Hancock, graduate student representative for fundraising and industry committee with the Centre for Neuroscience at Queen\u2019s University, says they hope to create a student support fund.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cIt's hard to get funding as a student, the pandemic and inflation has had a really big impact on student income\u2026Right now we have emergency grocery cards, we\u2019re hoping to have it go towards an emergency fund.. to help students out with personal expenses and for student initiatives,\u201d says Hancock.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The event includes a one kilometer walk or a five kilometer run, games, a raffle, music and info. booths to learn more about neuroscience.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cI thought it would be a great way to get the students involved and the community to support our department\u2026There will be posters up from student research, the projects that students are doing in the centre for neuroscience studies\u2026It shows where the money is going, towards the students, we really want to put them at the forefront of this event,\u201d says Hancock.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Hancock adds that neuroscience is personable.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cEveryone knows a little about neuroscience, this event is a way to show a little more in depth about what we do at Queens.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In order to participate in the <a href=\"https:\/\/events.eply.com\/NeurRun3367851\">Neur Run<\/a>, there is a registration fee. Alternatively, the CNS is also accepting donations.
