{"id":110637,"date":"2022-08-11T16:51:31","date_gmt":"2022-08-11T20:51:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/canada-info.ca\/?p=110637"},"modified":"2022-08-17T13:32:14","modified_gmt":"2022-08-17T17:32:14","slug":"prince-edward-county-signs-off-on-stronger-short-term-accommodations-regime-secondary-residence-ban","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/canada-info.ca\/en\/prince-edward-county-signs-off-on-stronger-short-term-accommodations-regime-secondary-residence-ban\/","title":{"rendered":"Prince Edward County signs off on stronger short term accommodations regime, secondary residence ban"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On Monday, Prince Edward County Committee of the Whole approved of changes to the county\u2019s Short Term Accommodations (STA) regime, which included a ban on all secondary residence STAs going forward.<\/p>\n<p>Following <a href=\"https:\/\/princeedwardcounty.civicweb.net\/filepro\/documents\/267779\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">July\u2019s special STA meeting<\/a> where councillors instructed staff to amend and refine the proposed changes, committee voted and approved the following near final recommendations:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A $4,000 fine for failing to post STA license numbers on any STA advertisement;<\/li>\n<li>Steeper fines for unlicensed STAs (which will begin at $10,000, and then graduate up to $50,000 for egregious offenders);<\/li>\n<li>A 45 calendar day limit for those wishing to fully rent out their primary residence, and;<\/li>\n<li>A ban on future secondary residence STAs (besides those already grandfathered).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For the latter change, committee voted 8 to 5 in favor instead of an alternative option which would have allowed for one secondary residence STA per natural person. Picton Coun.
