{"id":110188,"date":"2022-08-09T17:21:16","date_gmt":"2022-08-09T21:21:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/canada-info.ca\/?p=110188"},"modified":"2022-08-09T17:21:16","modified_gmt":"2022-08-09T21:21:16","slug":"artist-spotlight-local-jemma-hicken-returns-to-the-stage-for-lovefest","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/canada-info.ca\/en\/artist-spotlight-local-jemma-hicken-returns-to-the-stage-for-lovefest\/","title":{"rendered":"Artist spotlight: Local Jemma Hicken returns to the stage for Lovefest"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Jemma Hicken is a born and raised Cortes musician who is returning to the scene this year to play at the returning, annual summer music festival Lovefest.<\/p>\n<p>Hicken has recently finished a degree in music and has moved back to the island to get in touch with her roots.<\/p>\n<p>\"It feels really good to be performing here again and bringing my music back to the community that fostered my love of music in the first place,\" Hicken says.<\/p>\n<p>There were Lovefests in 2017, 2018 and 2019 but the 2020 and 2021 festivals were cancelled due to COVID-19.<\/p>\n<p>Lovefest 2022 is on Aug. 14 and tickets are available in stores throughout Cortes Island and Rex Weyler will be selling tickets at Mansons Friday Market.<\/p>\n<p>Lovefest will be from 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 14 at Linnaea Farm.<\/p>\n<p>Early bird tickets are $25<br \/>\nTickets will be $30 at the door.<br \/>\n$20 for people under 18.<br \/>\nA family ticket is $60.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Listen below for more on Hicken's growing relationship with music and community and some insights on her influences artistically:<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Jemma Hicken is a born and raised Cortes musician who is returning to the scene this year to play at the returning, annual summer music festival Lovefest.
