{"id":109864,"date":"2022-08-08T13:43:27","date_gmt":"2022-08-08T17:43:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/canada-info.ca\/?p=109864"},"modified":"2022-08-08T13:44:56","modified_gmt":"2022-08-08T17:44:56","slug":"riverboat-days-festival-makes-a-roaring-comeback-following-covid-19-hiatus","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/canada-info.ca\/en\/riverboat-days-festival-makes-a-roaring-comeback-following-covid-19-hiatus\/","title":{"rendered":"Riverboat Days Festival makes a roaring comeback following COVID-19 hiatus"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Terrace\u2019s annual Riverboat Days celebration made a thriving comeback this year following the restrictions of COVID-19.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">For over 30 years, the Riverboat Days festival has been a large community event spanning multiple days, offering a variety of different activities. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Sports, art, rubber duck races, and live music encourages people from the community and surrounding areas to get together and enjoy the summer.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\"People are just so happy to get back out and see each other again,\" said Terrace Mayor Carol Leclerc, talking about the impact the festival has in the town, especially this year.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">One event that captures the prominence of Riverboat Days perfectly is the aptly named \u201cConcerts in the Park\u201d which gathers people to the George Little Park after a parade on Saturday for a day of live music, good food and socializing.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Although Concerts in the Park happened last year, there were still restrictions in place, leaving people feeling uneasy about gathering in a big group which was not the case this year.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Thousands of people convened throughout the afternoon and listened to a mix of talented local bands, ending with Canadian band Trooper in the headlining spot.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Events following the Saturday often include a beach volleyball tournament happening in the parking lot outside of Mr.Mikes Steakhouse, the rubber duck race put on by the Rotary Club of Terrace, and drag races for local car enthusiasts.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Riverboat Days activities went on until Aug. 7<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, ending with the last game of an open basketball tournament organized by the Terrace Basketball Association.
