The APTN Indigenous Day Live event is back this weekend after a two year delay due to the COVID-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n

Adam Garnet Jones, director of TV content and special events and senior management for APTN says that the most important thing about the event is gathering as a community.<\/p>\n

The day brings Indigenous and non- Indigenous people together to celebrate and this year, the event is \u201cmoving away from the concert of the past and will be reinvented into a cultural and artistic showcase,\u201d according to the indigenous Day Live website.<\/p>\n

Artists and participants who identify as women or members of the 2SLGBTQ+ community will be featured, and the 2022 theme is \u201cCelebrating our Lands,\u201d which covers the important relationship between Indigenous peoples and the land.<\/p>\n

Jones says there\u2019s a huge investment this year from both APTN and Canadian Heritage, adding that major support comes from the APTN team that puts in the hours to put together the event.<\/p>\n
