What would Sonia Furstenau do during the Fraser Valley flooding if she was Premier of BC? Sonia Furstenau, leader of the BC green party shares with CIVL what she would have done during the Fraser Valley flooding. Mrs. Furstenau says, " In the days following that flooding, I was looking around at what the providence had in place in terms of knowledge and information about atmospheric rivers and there was a 2014 report on atmospheric rivers that was prepared for the ministry of environment. It identified every single outcome that we had from that atmospheric river. The loss of critical infrastructure, the loss of farmland, the impacts [on] the communities". She added," We have to take these kinds of reports particularly when it comes to the increasingly severe and frequent impacts from climate change (the kinds of weather events that we are going to have) and we have to proactively prepare".
